About My Classroom

I teach Pre-Kindergarten Special Education in a “reverse-inclusion” room; this model prescribes that while exactly half of my students have developmental or learning exceptionalities, and receive early intervention services, the other half of my students are typically developed peers who act as oral language models. Currently, I service:

  • 8 students total (4 special education students, 4 typical peer students)

  • 4 boys and 4 girls

  • 50% African American students; 25% White students; 25% Bi-racial students

  • Exceptionalities include developmental delay, speech apraxia, autism spectrum disorder, spinal bifida, and deaf/hard of hearing

Instruction for English Language Arts aligns to the Louisiana State Standards for four-year olds, while Math instruction follows Eureka Math curriculum by Engage New York.
